Now we will return to the two cruel daughters.
They were not faithful to their father, neither were they faithful to their husbands. Soon after their father's departure, they declared publicly their love for another man. The two sisters were in love with the same man, Edmund.
The war between France and England had begun. The two armies fought brilliantly on the battlefield. But the army of France lost the battle, and Edmund kidnapped King Lear and Cordelia. Without the prior approval of the Duke of Albany, Edmund sent them to prison. Edmund even sent an order to kill Cordelia.
At that moment, the Duke of Albany, the husband of Gonerial realized Edmund had put King Lear and Cordelia in prison. He asked Edmund to release them. Edmund refused, and the Duke of Albany became very angry, saying, "I would not allow you to have the same power as mine!" Regan said, "If I agree, why can't he get the same power as you!" However, it seemed too late, Gonerial had put some poison in her food.
